Pregnant

Welcome to Mother Fit. We’re here to support you on your mental and physical journey throughout every stage of your pregnancy, postpartum and beyond. We offer a 360, holistic approach to motherhood. Looking after your mind, body and soul, we place an emphasis on all-round wellbeing, with the end result being a happier, healthier and more active you.

YES. We know that staying active is important and so beneficial to lots of mums-to-be during pregnancy, but many are confused as to how do this safely. You and your baby’s health is of utmost importance to us, which is why we place a focus on your overall wellbeing. Taking you through each trimester stage, I use my years of working as a pre and postnatal trainer to stand by you on your motherhood journey, as I have with thousands of women. All of our trainers and experts are qualified to teach/advise on your pregnancy needs.

In your settings you can tell us where you are on your pregnancy journey. From there you can chose to work on your mind, body or soul throughout your dashboard at your own pace and even schedule a live or on-demand workout into your calendar. You can journal about your pregnancy, find out what baby is doing on specific weeks and record important dates like scans and midwife appointments and be reminded of them.

Mother Fit will be everything you ever need in pregnancy. You will be able to follow my workout videos and advice, trimester by trimester, which includes an introduction to each trimester, full body, upper and lower body workouts, nutritional advice on how to stay nourished during the 9 months, you can follow pregnancy yoga by trimester with Abbey, plus our team of 10+ Experts will guide you through all the pregnancy essentials; think breathing for birth, stages of labour, birthing partner tips, pelvic health in pregnancy, meditation and breathwork. Likewise, we also offer a wealth of information and resources about what to expect once your baby arrives, such as children’s first aid, CPR, allergies, and temperatures, as well as perinatal care including how to calm your new baby and sleep advice.

Within dashboard settings you’ll be able to tell us when you had your baby, alternatively it will automatically transition to a postpartum dashboard after 41 weeks of pregnancy. Within the first 8 weeks after childbirth take your time to enjoy your baby and recover. At this point please continue to learn from our Experts and you can commence my 'Rebuild your Core' program if you feel ready. Your health is the priority, so please do not start my 9 week postpartum program until after your 6-8 week medical check, while c-section mums are advised to wait for longer before returning to exercise. In the early stages enjoy walking with your little one. Disclaimer : Before commencing any new fitness, health, or nutrition program, please consult with your doctor to discuss your individual needs. I’m here to provide general advice within my scope of practice, but you should seek professional help if it is needed.

If you’re diabetic, have an injury or medical condition, pregnant/postpartum, or a physical disability, please consult your doctor or professional healthcare provider before starting.

Always consult your healthcare professional before beginning any new exercise program, as there are some situations where exercise may not be advised.

This information should be used as a guide only and should not replace the advice of your medical practitioner.

My workouts can be completed with little or no equipment. I advise as a basic start, you would benefit from an exercise mat and a set of dumbbells suited to your weight preference. If you are pregnant and have always exercised with weights then you can carry on using the same level of weights, but please be mindful to not overtrain. The level of weights you use must allow you to perform the exercise with the correct form for the duration of the workout. If you are returning to exercise after having a baby and have had your midwife or GP sign off to recommence exercising, I would suggest you start light and take your time to progress.

Once you’ve graduated through the Postpartum programs and are feeling stronger, you’re ready to move onto my 'Beyond' programs and your dashboard will change. I strongly suggest you keep the workouts low impact in the first instance, starting with a mixture of upper body burn, lower body strength, fat burner and perhaps boxing. These classes are the perfect stepping stone to progressing onto a challenge or the longer on-demand and live workouts. Please listen to your body and take it at your pace. I do not recommend you take part in Arms & Abs at this point in your recovery.
